New polling shows that City of Melbourne supports a fur ban

Collective Fashion Justice commissioned independent polling company uComms to help us learn more about how people in the City of Melbourne think and feel about the issue of fur, in collaboration with Animal Justice Party MP Andy Meddick’s office.

Here’s what we learned:

The majority of people surveyed in the City of Melbourne strongly support a ban on fur sales.

The majority of people surveyed are more likely to shop in a municipality that bans the sale of fur.

The majority of people surveyed in the City of Melbourne are more likely to purchase faux alternatives to fur, for environmental reasons.

The majority of people in the City of Melbourne feel strongly that the killing of millions of animals for their fur, is a reason to avoid purchasing fashion items made from animal fur.

The majority of people surveyed do not trust animal welfare claims made by fashion brands using fur, leather, down and wool.

The majority of people believe the increasing zoonotic disease risks associated with fur farming should end the sale of fur.

The majority of people surveyed with a view on the matter are more likely to support a political party or council that prioritises animal protection and the environment.

Let’s make a fur ban a reality.
